Lauren is a speech language pathologist mentored under Dr. Emily Plowman and is the primary research SLP in several funded clinical trials working with patients with neurodegenerative conditions to include amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and Parkinson’s Disease. In addition, Lauren works in the neuromuscular outpatient clinic at the Fixel Center and in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at UF Health/Shands Hospital. Lauren is inspired daily by the resiliency of her patients, driving her passion of improving clinical outcomes and swallowing function in neuromuscular conditions.
Lauren graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York and earned her Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from East Carolina University. Lauren completed her clinical fellowship under mentorship by Dr. Plowman.
Although Lauren grew up in Fort Myers, Florida, she has moved four times in the last five years with her husband Chris who served in the Army. Lauren and Chris are happy to put down roots in Gainesville. During her free time, Lauren enjoys traveling, Gator football, and spending time with her family.
